Cancer Center Honors BMI President Frances Preston

Posted in News on June 12, 2000

BMI President and CEO Frances W. Preston received a lucite etching of The Preston Building, the focal point of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centers research activities, during a reception for the centers board of directors. The former Medical Research Building II, recently named in Prestons honor, will, after expansion is completed, represent the marquee entrance and focal point of all VICC efforts.

Preston is a VICC board member and president of the T. J. Martell Foundation, the primary charity of the music industry nationwide. Over the past 25 years, the Foundation has raised more than $140 million for medical research in sponsored labs in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. Through the Martell Foundation, the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories were established at Vanderbilt in 1993 to support new research aimed at developing innovative therapies and preventions for breast, prostate, colon, ovarian and lung cancers.
