Circle of Songs Roundly Praised

Monthly singer/songwriter showcase series is held at The Gig in West Los Angeles

March 22, 2000 - LOS ANGELES - The third of the BMI-sponsored "Circle of Songs" acoustic singer/songwriter showcases held "in the round" at the Gig in West Los Angeles will be on Wednesday, March 29. BMI, along with Jenna Leigh, manager of the Gig, hosts this event, set for the last Wednesday of every month; March's line-up includes Neil Kassanoff, Lenna, Duane Neillson, Reeva Hunter. The showcase begins at 8 p.m. and admission is free. The Gig in West Los Angeles is located at 11637 West Pico Boulevard.

Founded by Jenna Leigh, a professional singer/songwriter who is also General Manager of The Gig nightclubs, the series' aim is to raise awareness and showcase the Los Angeles singer/songwriting community. BMI's Cheryl Dickerson, Elisa Randazzo and Tracie Verlinde and singer/songwriter Jimmy Muffin will help Leigh book the monthly showcase, which will feature writers of all genres.

Future Circle of Songs shows are on April 26th, May 31st, Just 28th and July 26th.

About the March 29 Circle of Songs performers:

Neil Kassanoff - Hailing from Austin, Texas, this talented singer/songwriter has written music for film, collaborated with other artists and toured the singer/songwriter circuit. His CD release, Some Assembly Required, has already been receiving airplay and his diverse songs have been described as "rich with wordplay� by the Austin American Statesman.

Lenna - Lenna began to realize her love for music when she played the viola at age nine and later performed with the Minnesota Youth Symphony. She has written songs with such notable music pros as Charlie Daniels and has many television credits under her hat as well.

Duane Neillson - Spirit, voice and artistic vision defines the soulful sound of this singer/songwriter originally from Kentucky. Landing his first songwriter contract with Philadelphia�s Mighty Three Publishing at the age of nineteen, Duane resumes his lifelong musical tradition in the Los Angeles area.

Reeva Hunter - The songs on Reeva�s CD Lucky Penny were described by the National Academy of Songwriter�s Musepaper as �sturdy, timeless, great folk songs with melody and imagery that go straight to the heart.� She�s had songs performed by the likes of Rita Coolidge and Teresa James. She resides in Los Angeles where she works in film & television and is completing a novel.
