Acoustic in Black Caps Off Successful 2nd Year

Posted in News on December 19, 1999

BMI's Acoustic In Black series celebrated its second year on December 14 at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles. Dakah with Kofy Brown and Printz, and Nailah performed for the capacity crowd. First up were Dakah, a 25 piece urban/alternative hip-hop orchestra led by composer/conductor Geoff Gallegos aka "Double G." Dakah, certainly original in its blending of jazz, classical, world hip-hop and rap, captivated the crowd with their infectious style, groovin' rhythms and their refreshing, diverse cast. Sitting in with Dakah were the Bay Area's Kofy Brown and Printz from Gravy. Nailah took the stage after Dakah, showcasing her amazing musical diversity, solid vocal style and captivating lyrics. Moving from jazz influenced soul numbers to transcendental ballads, Nailah lifted the crowd up with her vital music. Acoustic In Black was founded by Kasey Lovelace and is sponsored by BMI.
