BMI And Tonos Entertainment Announce Marketing Alliance

NEW YORK, November 2001 - BMI, the music performing rights organization, and Tonos Entertainment, the online musician/songwriter network, have announced a partnership to discover and promote new talent in the music industry. Tonos.com, which has in excess of 200,000 registered users, will permit BMI’s more than 220,000 songwriters and composers to enjoy substantial discounts on Tonos membership packages, allowing access to an exclusive suite of professional tools and promotional opportunities in the record business as well as film and television projects. In addition, Tonos and BMI executives will work closely to identify and promote promising new songwriters and composers to help speed their career development.
“Our new agreement is a real win-win situation for new talent,” said BMI Los Angeles Vice President Barbara Cane. “We’re excited about working with the Tonos creative staff to identify and develop new songwriters and artists,” she said. “At the same time, current BMI writers will have access to a marvelous spectrum of collaboration opportunities and professional tools offered by Tonos.”
Tonos was founded by longtime BMI songwriters Carole Bayer Sager, David Foster and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. “We have worked with BMI for years on an informal basis in the new talent arena,” said Bayer Sager. “Our new alliance gives us a structure for developing an ongoing collaborative process to nurture the careers of promising songwriters and artists by tapping into the resources of both of our organizations. Barbara and the BMI team are the best in the business and we’re excited to be working with them in this new framework.”
BMI writers and composers will have exclusive access to Tonos membership packages through the secure “eNet” section of BMI’s website, bmi.com.
