BMI Atlanta To Host 5th Annual Urban Showcase And Competition

ATLANTA, April 18, 2002 – BMI Atlanta will host its 5th Annual Urban Showcase and Competition on Thursday, April 25 at Celebrity Rock Cafe (56 East Andrews). Doors open at 7:30pm; admission is $6 to the public. The show and competition is part of the ongoing BMI New Music Nights Showcase series featuring up-and-coming artists and songwriters in all genres of music including rap, hip hop, R&B and neo-soul.

The competition line-up includes such rising BMI stars as Major KeyZ, Jonz, Abby Dobson, Christopher Lewis and Teradac, who will be judged by a distinguished panel of industry standouts, including two-time Grammy Award winning producer Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, *N Sync, Brandy), three-time Grammy-nominated producer Rico Wade (TLC, Outkast, Goodie Mob, The Dungeon Family), Hitco Music Publishing’s Shakir Stewart (Beyoncé Knowles of Destiny’s Child), Motown Records’ Shanté Paige (Profyle, Rasheeda, the Temptations), Universal Record’s Tse Williams (3LW, Joe), Jive Records’ Toi Green (Mystical, The Wood Soundtrack), V-103 program director Frank Ski, Warner/Chapell Music’s Kamala Gordon (Rock Wilder, Faith Evans), EMI Music Publishing’s Brian Jackson (Rodney Jerkins, The Neptunes, Jerry “Wonder” Duplessis, Pink), Ground Control Music’s Leotis Clyburn (Tyrice Jones, Jerel Allen and Terry Harris), Groove Factor producer/songwriter Teddy Bishop (Toni Braxton, Montell Jordan, Jagged Edge), and Soundtron Tunes/DARP Music’s Danny Zook (Dallas Austin/Rico Lumpkin).

The BMI New Music Nights Urban Showcase will also feature a special guest performance by Cash Money recording artists Big Tymers.

Through its music performance and reciprocal agreements with sister organizations around the world, it grants businesses and media access to its repertoire of more than 4.5 million songs and compositions.
