BMI Honors Legends Stevens, Malloy & Rabbitt – July 2009

August 3, 2009 DebDave/Briarpatch Grab Lunch and BMI Million-Air Awards – July 2009 The creative hive from iconic publishing house DebDave/Briarpatch recently reunited at a BMI-hosted luncheon in downtown Nashville. The company’s original partners Even Stevens, David Malloy, his father and legendary producer Jim Malloy, the late Eddie Rabbitt and staff writer Thom Schuyler scored a chain of hits that have now generated millions of performances. Schuyler’s “I Fell in Love Again Last Night,” recorded by the Forester Sisters, has garnered more than 2 million performances, while his “16th Avenue,” recorded by Lacy J. Dalton, has generated more than 1 million. Eddie Rabbit’s “Step by Step,” which he co-wrote with David Malloy and Even Stevens, has amassed more than 3 million performances; Rabbit’s “Drivin’ My Life Away,” also co-written by him, Malloy and Even Stevens, has earned more than 4 million performances, while his “I Love a Rainy Night,” co-written by the same trio, has garnered more than 5 million performances.
