Nashville’s The Protomen took no prisoners at the second of three monthly installments of 8 off 8th’s Road to Bonnarroo, sponsored by BMI, Mercy Lounge, and Bud Select. Over the past few months, Nashville area bands have vied for three slots at this year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. As the live-action litmus test, eight bands performed each night, and a combination of industry judges and audience participation determined the winner each night. The apocalyptic Protomen won their prize in a landslide, triggered by their dramatic fusion of progressive and classic rock ‘n’ roll.
Glossary, Shoot the Mountain, Elle Macho, Kindergarten Circus, Heypenny, Space Capone, The Tits, and Jacob Jones will compete for the last of the three slots at the final contest date, March 18 at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge (1 Cannery Row).
Showtime is 9 p.m., admission is free, and ages 21 and older are welcome.
