Director: Smash His Camera

Academy Award-winning director Leon Gast’s latest documentary, Smash His Camera, profiles original paparazzo Ron Galella, who elevated the celebrity snapshot during the 1970s. Gast himself became a noted photographer during that decade, placing stunning work in magazines including Vogue, Esquire, and Harper’s Bazaar. In addition to his Oscar-winning When We Were Kings, which documented 1974’s groundbreaking Mohammad Ali and George Foreman fight, Gast has directed Hell’s Angels Forever, The Grateful Dead Movie, Soul Power, Salsa: The Film, and more.
