Sundance Institute’s ComposersLab: LA Set for May 12

BMI’s Doreen Ringer Ross to Join Top Composers Blake Neely, Thomas Newman, John Powell and Alex Wurman and other Industry Experts at Must-Attend Film Music Event

The Sundance Institute’s Film Music Program will present the ComposersLab: LA on Saturday, May 12 at Downtown Independent Theatre (251 South Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90012) in Los Angeles. The event is an incredible educational opportunity – a one-day version of the institute’s Summer Lab.

Leading composers Blake Neely (The Mentalist, The Pacific, Political Animals, Brothers & Sisters), Cliff Martinez (Drive, Contagion, Sex, Lies, and Videotape), Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Road to Perdition, The Help, The Adjustment Bureau), John Powell (Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Hancock), and Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins, Talladega Nights, Anchorman, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) will serve as Creative Advisors alongside industry experts including Doreen Ringer Ross, BMI Vice President, Film/TV Relations; agent Robert Messinger, First Artists; and music supervisors Adam Smalley and Scott Johnson (The Gangster Squad, The Town, Twilight, How to Train Your Dragon, The Blind Side).

The day’s schedule includes exclusive presentations from the composers, a panel discussion with the Ringer Ross and other premier executives, and more.
