Library of Congress Inducts13 BMI Musical Works into National Recording Registry

Posted in News on May 14, 2026

The Library of Congress has released its annual list of 25 recordings selected for prestigious inclusion into the National Recording Registry. Hand-picked for their cultural, historical, and/or aesthetic impact on America’s sound heritage, these works will be preserved in perpetuity in the Registry, which now contains 700 titles in all.

BMI is exceptionally pleased that 13 of this year’s selections are by BMI songwriters and international songwriters whose music is licensed in the U.S. by BMI.

The public can submit nominations for Recording Registry inductions in 2027 on the Library of Congress’ website. Nominations for next year will be accepted until October 1, 2026.

Congratulations to the entire NRR class of extraordinary music creators.
