Indie Spotlight: Hailey Knox

Posted in News on June 12, 2015

Her soulful voice may very well evoke Beyoncé and Rihanna, but 16-year-old Hailey Knox has a sound all her own. And like most stars of her generation, she didn’t wait for a record label to create an audience for her; she amassed one independently by doing inventive covers on YouTube. Beyond hitting any note effortlessly, this gifted New York-born teen also plays guitar and writes her own lyrics — all of which caught the attention of major labels, publishers, and singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor, who tweeted at her “I’m ur biggest fan” back in February. These days, Knox has a superstar team behind her, including multiplatinum songwriters/producers Peter Zizzo (Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz) and Mike Mangini (Joss Stone, Diane Burch), and is working toward her debut album on S-Curve Records. If you want a feel for her classic-meets-contemporary vibe, all you have to do is listen to one of her original tracks, like “Satellites,” which will make you fall in love with love all over again.
