Indie Spotlight: Florence and the Machine

Posted in News on March 1, 2010

Her soaring, epic vocals, quirky melodies and self-contained musical world won her the Critics Choice Award at the Brits at the start of 2009. Now with album sales over three quarters of a million, one #1 debut album Lungs, a South Bank Award for best album and numerous sold-out shows under her belt, Florence and her mighty machine look set to surpass their 2009 achievements in 2010. It’s already off to a good start: Lungs garnered Mastercard British Album of the year honors at the recent Brit awards. Reflecting on her performances, Florence says, “It’s just this sense of total freedom. It sounds so cheesy, but I want to touch people. Not in a weird way. I just want to help them feel what I’m feeling.”
