Indie Spotlight: Cara Salimando
18-year-old New Jersey native Cara Salimando starting composing music at age 10, and she hasn’t stopped since. In 2009, Cara was discovered playing her original music in a local taco bar; the encounter led to Cara’s audition and signing with Universal/Motown. Cara has since graduated high school, gone on a tour with Ingrid Michaelson and Mat Kearney, flown to Paris to shoot a music video for her first single, opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter, and co-written with Dan Wilson of Semisonic and Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional. She is looking forward to a busy year of playing shows and promoting her first full length release, due out in the first quarter of 2011.
