BMI’s new crop of indie artists is defined by raw talent and exceptional variety. The Wrecks’ punk-inflected emo tracks dare you not to get up and start dancing, while BAUM’s brutally honest, powerful singles are punctuated with themes of feminism and self-love. Australian import The Faim can tell an overnight success story that sounds downright cinematic, while upstart Grace Weber has already made a name for herself based on her soulful, serendipitous GRAMMY-winning collaboration. Rounding out the group are the effervescent Mia Gladstone, who draws on jazz fusion and hip-hop influences, and L.A.’s Emerson Star, a band who is already shining brightly thanks to their peppy guitar pop. Meet the songwriters who are reinventing the music scene.
