Indie Spotlight: Mylen

Posted in News on May 5, 2017

As a kid growing up in New Orleans, Mylen used to listen to an influential mix of artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, Fats Domino and Louis Armstrong. By 2014, Mylen had moved to Los Angeles, where he launched a career as a performer, songwriter and producer known for soulful, breathy vocals and hypnotic beats. In just a few short years, he has earned some impressive credits, such as co-writing “Can’t Fight It” for American Idol alum Rayvon Owen, and contributing to “Trading Scars,” a song by Italian DJ and producer MHE (Gianni Romano). “Nervous,” Mylen’s first solo single from a forthcoming EP, has been featured on playlists like BMI’s #MusicMonday as well as on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Hiptronix. He told Purple Melon that his new album will have “snapshots of events in my life and the feelings and emotions behind them,” adding that “when what you feel manifests into what you hear, completely unhindered, it’s a beautiful thing.”
