David Newman Thrills Audiences With John Williams’ “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
BMI composer David Newman expertly did justice to one of the most beloved film scores of all time when he conducted John Williams’ music to Raiders of the Lost Ark at the Hollywood Bowl over the weekend. The performance, which was synched live to the iconic film, featured the LA Philharmonic, a world-class orchestra whose stellar performance dazzled under Newman’s baton. BMI’s Doreen Ringer-Ross was there to support both Williams and Newman, whose passion, along with creating music for such popular films as War of the Roses, Hoffa, and Ice Age, is to conduct orchestras all over the world to promote film music.
