BMI’s Doreen Ringer Ross visited Houston, Texas’s Wortham Theater Friday, March 7 for the Houston Grand Opera’s (HGO) world premiere of Last Acts, the latest project of BMI composer Jake Heggie. Heggie is best known for his first opera, Dead Man Walking, which debuted in 2000. HGO was also the first troupe to bring his second opera, The End of the Affair, to the stage in 2004.

Last Acts, which stars mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, baritone Keith Phares and soprano Kristin Clayton, spans two-acts and is based on a short play by Terrence McNally. The production will be renamed Three Decembers after its run at the Wortham Theater.
