Broadcast Music, Inc. recently paid a visit to the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music, a small magnet school for New York City youth seriously interested in continuing their music studies while pursuing a challenging academic course of study. Carolina Arenas, BMI Director, Latin Writer/Publisher Relations, organized a panel of four young BMI affiliates - BB Bronx, Esme Melody, Eli Jas and Valentino - who each spoke candidly to the 14- to 18-year-old students about their own career trajectories and how they’ve managed to balance work and school. Carlos Escalona, BMI Latin Awards winner for the 2013 song “Me Gustas Tanto,” performed by Paulina Rubio, moderated the panel. Students left the panel feeling motivated and inspired to pursue their artistic goals, while remaining dedicated to their academic studies. The panel is yet another example of BMI’s commitment to nurturing musical talent in New York City’s Latin community and beyond.
