BMI songwriter Claude Kelly participated as a panelist in this year’s Nielsen Audio Client Conference held recently (12/11) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore.  The session, entitled “The Art of Songwriting,” was held in front of a packed audience of radio executives and featured Kelly, BMI’s Pop Songwriter of the Year in 2013, being interviewed by Radio One VP of Programming Content Jay Stevens. Kelly not only told the stories of how he wrote many of the biggest hits in pop music over the last few years, such as “Circus” for Britney Spears, “Grenade” for Bruno Mars and “My Life Would Suck Without You” for Kelly Clarkson, but he also performed the songs and gave insight into how they ended up being recorded by some of the music industry’s hottest artists.

The more than 200 broadcasters in attendance gave Kelly a standing ovation at the conclusion of his panel and the session was dubbed by organizers as one of the best in the history of the conference.
