BMI’s country music songwriters and producers clinched the overwhelming majority of the 46th Annual CMA Awards nominations, announced September 5. In almost every category, four out of five of the nominees are BMI members, such as the Entertainer of the Year field, in which Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift won nods, and the Song of the Year contenders, 80% of which written or co-written by BMI writers. BMI members also swept some categories, such as Male Vocalist of the Year, in which Aldean, Shelton, Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Keith Urban will compete for the prize.

With five nominations, Eric Church leads the overall list of nominees, followed closely by Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, who each earned four.

The 2012 CMA Awards will be co-hosted for the fifth time by Carrie Underwood and broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Thursday, Nov. 1.
