BMI participated in the fourth Music Industry Toolbox on Thursday, September 29, presented by the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) and the California Copyright Conference (CCC). Held at the AFM Local 47 in Hollywood, CA, the event featured representatives from a wide array of companies on-hand to provide useful information to attendees in the areas of digital distribution, royalty accounting & collections, music rights administration and music search. Geared towards industry professionals, one of the highlights was a powerful anti-piracy keynote speech delivered by CreativeFuture CEO Ruth Vitale. Another highlight was the ‘Ask an Expert’ panel. Moderated by Reel Muzik Werks President and CEO Teri Nelson Carpenter, this panel featured BMI Executive Director Distribution & Administration Services Michael Crepezzi fielding questions about PROs, and Pen Music Group President and CEO Michael Eames partaking in a discussion about publishing. When addressing the attendees, Barbie Quinn, AIMP board member and co-producer of Music Industry Toolbox, thanked the crowd for making the event the most successful Toolbox to date, which directly raised a record amount of money for the AIMP and CCC scholarship programs.
