BMI Indie Spotlight: Nymphlord
Los Angeles-based, alternative singer/songwriter Nymphlord treats pop culture detritus the way some treat folklore. The songs across her debut album, Shedding Velvet, rattle with brand names, cubicles, linktrees and acidic Bush-era memories that cull an identity portrait assembled of scraps, both embarrassing and divine. An album obsessed with the way we perform authenticity - on stage, online and in the fluorescence of an office all-hands. Showcasing distinct vocal cadence and nods to experimental, folk and 90’s alternative, Shedding Velvet, explores what happens when dreaming big starts to feel impractical and delves into the friction between fantasy and reality. Produced by Katie Von Schleicher (Frankie Cosmos), Shedding Velvet is out May 15 via Lauren Records. Precursor singles, “Star” and “Garden” are out now.
