BMI Indie Spotlight: Fall 2023

Posted in News on October 23, 2023

The crisp arrival of autumn brings with it a new edition of the BMI Indie Spotlight filled with exciting new music. First up is the stirring, acoustic sounds of Ilsey, recalling the Laurel Canyon vibes of the Seventies. From there, Los Angeleno indie trio Younger Hunger changes things up with their unique blend of infectious pop and idiosyncratic song structures. Daisy World is next, blurring genres with vocalist Daisy Hamel Buffa’s soulful vocals and evocative lyrics. The Warning, an all-sister trio from Monterey, Mexico, delivers a quick, bracing shot of adrenalized rock, prior to the earthy country/folk/Americana stylings of singer/songwriter Dasha, who Fake Dad follows with a synth-laden mix of emotional catharsis and catchy, sun-soaked melodies. Singer/songwriter Buffchick adds some nostalgic introspection to the mix, with Holdan’s captivating fusion of soul and folk influences with a modern twist right behind. And Brooklyn-based beccs brings it all home with her own candid take on indie pop, distinguished by her versatile voice and vulnerable style.
