BMI Hosts “Las Compositoras+” Song Camp in Los Angeles
BMI recently hosted the “Las Compositoras+” song camp as part of its commitment to supporting its songwriters and amplifying diverse voices in música Mexicana. The three-day creative retreat was in partnership with acclaimed songwriter Erika Vidrio, who led the immersive songwriting sessions. Held in Los Angeles, the camp united an eclectic lineup of emerging and established talent, including Paulina B, Celimar, Amanda Coronel, Delilah, Lupita Infante, Michelle Maciel, Karen Moon and Ashlee Valenzuela.
The song camp provided an opportunity for the songwriters to work together creatively and produce new songs for potential future placements. On day one, artists were welcomed with gifts from supporting sponsors including Fender Acoustasonics and Gretsch Rancher Acoustics guitars and accessories provided by Fender and Studio One 7 software and gear from PreSonus, setting the tone for a creative atmosphere. The final day of the camp was dedicated to studio time, where participants had the opportunity to bring their ideas to life and record the original songs they worked on at NRG Recording Studios.
“The Las Compositoras+ song camp is about fostering collaboration, supporting our songwriters and building a creative community,” said BMI’s Associate Director, Creative, Latin, Lilibeth Patron, “Together, with the support of our sponsors, we were able to provide a platform and create a unique experience for female songwriters and creators in the LGBTQ+ community in música Mexicana.”
The Las Compositoras+ song camp was proudly supported by Fender, PreSonus, Muso.AI, NRG Recording Studios and mitú, who served as the dedicated media sponsor and sat down with the participants to discuss their art, inspiration, and much more.
