Posted in News on January 21, 2026

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its new class of inductees, and BMI is excited to congratulate our exceptional affiliates for this prestigious honor.

In the Non-Performing Songwriters category, Graham Lyle has been selected for induction. A revered music creator, his hit songs include “What’s Love Got to Do With It?,” “Typical Male,” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero” by Tina Turner, “Just Good Friends” by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, “Hold Me (Just a Little Longer Tonight)” by Etta James, “You’re the Star” by Rod Stewart and “When You Love Somebody (I’m Saving My Love for You)” by Patti LaBelle, to name a few. Lyle is being inducted alongside his frequent partner Terry Britten*. Already a multiple BMI Award winner and BMI Million-Air Award recipient, Lyle was also named a BMI Icon at the 2024 BMI London Awards. This latest accolade only further establishes him as one of the most successful British songwriters of his generation.

From the Performing Songwriter category, the legendary Taylor Swift has been selected for induction. Having transformed pop culture through her music, Swift is a 52-time GRAMMY nominee, a 14-time GRAMMY winner, as well as the first and only artist to win the GRAMMY for Album of the Year four times. She is the highest-grossing live music artist and one of the best-selling music creators of all time. She has won over 80 BMI Awards and received the Taylor Swift Award at the BMI Pop Awards in 2016. Some of her hits include “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” “Blank Space,” “Anti-Hero,” “Love Story,” “The Last Great American Dynasty” and “The Fate of Ophelia,” among many others.

In addition to these inductions, legendary singer/songwriter, former Creedence Clearwater Revival co-founder and BMI Icon John Fogerty will be presented with the esteemed Johnny Mercer Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Fogerty, who was inducted in 2005, is receiving this accolade for having established a history of outstanding creative works over the course of his remarkable career. Previous winners of the Johnny Mercer Award include BMI songwriters and composers like Carole Bayer Sager, Alan Menken, Kenneth Gamble, Leon Huff, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Mike Stoller, Paul Anka, Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Carole King, Paul Simon and many other music legends.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony is slated for Thursday, June 11 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Congratulations to all!
