BMI’s Music Row office welcomed friends, family, and industry tastemakers to celebrate “Dead Man Walking,” the first No.1 for Nashville-based, multi-genre act, Jelly Roll. The party, hosted by BMI and SESAC, paid tribute to the artist and his co-writers Michael Whitworth, Andrew Baylis, and David Ray Stevens - all of whom experienced their first chart topper. “Dead Man Walking” hit the top of the Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and spent 2 weeks there. The smash, produced by co-writer Andrew Baylis, appears on Jelly Roll’s 10-track album, Ballads of the Broken, which highlights the Nashville native’s personal struggles. In addition to his first chart topping rock hit, his latest single, “Son of a Sinner,” is climbing the Country Airplay charts, making him the first artist to top the Active Rock charts while also having a Top 30 single at Country radio.
