This year’s South Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association Annual Conference held in Greenville was highlighted by a performance from BMI award-winning songwriter and South Carolina native Jesse Rice. Rice performed during the conference luncheon in front of restaurant and lodging owners from South and North Carolina. Raised in Conway, SC, Rice moved to Nashville in 2002 and had his first #1 song with the co-written smash “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. The song would go on to sell more than 12 million singles/downloads and become the first country song to receive a Diamond Certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

As an artist, Rice launched the first installment of his Pirates Sessions projects, The Pirate Sessions I & II, in 2012 which featured guest appearances by Florida Georgia Line and Chase Rice. The Pirate Sessions III premiered in 2017 and featured Michael Ray, Russell Dickerson, and Love & Theft. Jesse carried on The Pirate Sessions legacy, launching The Pirate Sessions IV in 2019 and The Pirate Sessions V, on March 17, 2023, where it debuted at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Charts.

The South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association represents over 2,100-member restaurant and lodging companies and industry-related services providers. They have been a BMI business partner since 2008.
