Again this year, BMI proudly continued its support of the Sundance Institute Film Music and Sound Design Lab at Skywalker Sound in California. The Lab, which for the first time included a majority of female composers, provided participants the opportunity to collaborate and develop music and sound for fiction and non-fiction feature film projects. Leading film composers including Harry Gregson Williams, Thomas Newman, Heather McIntosh, Tyler Bates, Nora Kroll Rosenbaum, and Mark Isham served as creative advisors mentoring fellows to explore music’s crucial role in storytelling. At the conclusion of the Lab, original orchestral cues were recorded for each composer/director team.

This year’s talented composer fellows included Amit May Cohen, Anna Drubich, Carla Patullo, Christy Carew, Dara Taylor, Bill Laurance, Carlos Simon and Rasmus Zwicki.
