‘Settle for a Slowdown’ Travels Up the Charts

BMI Nashville treated songwriters Tony Martin and Brett Beavers to a celebratory dinner at Fleming's with family members and colleagues in honor of writing Dierks Bentley's recent No. 1 hit, "Settle for a Slowdown."

Martin's other songwriting credits include Jo Dee Messina's "My Give a Damn's Busted," Joe Diffie's smash "Third Rock From the Sun," Darryl Worley's "I Miss My Friend," Tracy Byrd's "Just Let Me Be In Love," "Living and Living Well" by George Strait, and "Perfect," "I Keep Looking" and "No Place That Far" by Sara Evans.

Beavers also penned two other Bentley No. 1s, including "What Was I Thinkin'" and "Come A Little Closer."
