BMI Musical Theatre Workshop Presents Master Class

The Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop conducted its 5th Master Class recently with the prestigious team of Richard Maltby and David Shire as the masters. The program, launched in 2002, features theatre music "masters" critiquing two projects developed by members of the Workshop's Librettist and Advanced Composer-Lyricist classes.

Presented were 25 minute segments of two musicals in progress: STOREYVILLE by Kristin Anderson, Lisa DeSpain and Shawn Churchman, and THE STORY OF MY LIFE by Neil Bartram and Brian Hill.

Attendance for the Master Class is limited to members of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Previous Masters include John Kander, Sheldon Harnick, Thomas Meehan, Peter Howard, Stephen Flaherty, Jonathan Tunick and Terrence McNally. The next class is planned for the Spring.

The Workshop, founded by Broadway conductor Lehman Engel, is currently represented on Broadway by AVENUE Q, NINE, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
