Songs of Love

Posted in News on July 17, 2001

BMI songwriter Itaal Shur (r), co-writer of the Grammy-winning Santana smash “Smooth,” recently volunteered his talents to Songs of Love, a non-profit organization that brings artists together to create original, personalized songs for children and teens with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Shur is seen here proudly presenting a copy of the CD containing his unique song to 9-year-old Chantelle Lovett, a cancer patient at the Hassenfeld Children’s Center in New York City, while Songs of Love Foundation President and CEO John Beltzer looks on. Founded in 1996 in memory of Beltzer’s twin brother Julio who died in 1984, the organization boasts a volunteer group of over 350 talented artists.
