Elton John’s ‘Aida’ Big Winner at Tony Awards

BMI congratulates Sirs Elton John and Tim Rice on winning Best Original Score for "Aida" at last night's 54th Annual Tony® Awards honoring the best on Broadway.

Nominated for five Tony's®, the love-triangle musical set in ancient Egypt also took home awards for Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, while Heather Headley took home the award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her role in the show.

John and Rice also won a Tony® for Best Musical in 1998 for their adaptation of Disney's "The Lion King."
