Thomas Rhett Akins, son of BMI Award-winning songwriter Rhett Akins, recently joined the BMI family. Just last week, Akins, Sr. took home a 2009 BMI Country Award for Brooks & Dunn’s “Put a Girl In It,” and Thomas is auspiciously preparing to follow in his father’s footsteps.
