Daniela Blau: Bio

Posted in News on June 17, 2008

Daniela Blau is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter native of San Jose, Costa Rica. Since a very early age, she found herself surrounded by a traditionally artistic family and soon developed a big passion for music. By the time she was 12 years old, she was taking organ, violin, and clarinet private lessons, as well as performing in several school plays and talent shows. She enthralled local audiences with her talent and soon caught the attention of respected vocal instructor, Gourgen Mkrtytchian.

Mr. Mkrtytchian was amazed by Daniela’s potential and became determined to help her fully develop her vocal skills. In order to do this, he motivated Daniela’s mother to support her career as a singer, and became her vocal instructor for the following 3 years. During this period, Daniela’s performance skills lead her to participate in several concerts at the “Academia de Musica Moderna” (Modern Music Academy) and “Jazz Café”, as well as to perform in some of Costa Rica’s most important musical plays.

After graduating from high school, Daniela decided to move to Boston in order to pursue her studies at Simmons College. Determined to continue developing her passion for music away from home, she went to the closest Wal-Mart to buy her first acoustic guitar and taught herself how to play during the following months. Seeking to convey her heart and mind through music, Daniela found a way to merge her thoughts and feelings with the chords of her guitar, and quickly became immersed in the world of songwriting.

In 2006, she met fellow countryman Roberto Jimenez, a talented Music-Business student from Berklee College of Music, who quickly became fascinated with her music and assumed a key role in the management of her career. For the following year they focused on Daniela’s artistic development and traveled to Los Angeles, CA in order to record her first album under the musical production of Marco A. Godoy.

Nowadays, Daniela is considered by Costa Rican newspaper “La Nacion” as one of the most successful artists from Costa Rica on the web (www.myspace.com/daniblau), and is currently preparing for the release of her first album entitled “Nada Que No Pueda”.
