BMI Sponsors New York Music & Internet Expo

BMI will be a sponsor of the 3rd Annual New York Music & Internet Expo, continuing its long tradition of supporting new technologies and music for songwriters and musicians. BMI will lead both a workshop and panel at this year's event. The conference is being held April 21 and 22 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

BMI’s JW Johnson, Director of Writer/Publisher Relations New York, will be leading a workshop entitled “BMI Presents: BMI 2001” on Saturday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. in workshop rooms C and D. David Bills, Director of Online Communications/Webmaster, and Eric Miller, Web Designer/Editor, will be participating in this workshop/demo of bmi.com and the many digital tools it offers to songwriters and publishers. BMI.com was named “Best Organisation Website” by the MIDEMNet awards this year.

BMI’s Richard Conlon, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Media Licensing, will be speaking on the panel “Show Me The Money! Getting the Artists Paid” on Sunday, April 22 from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in room B. Other panelists include moderator Ritch Esra, Music Business Registry; Ruben Lozano, LoudEnergy.com; Sean Fenlon, ListenSmart.com; Tim Smith, Copyright.net; and Trish Naudon, Digital World Service.

BMI's JW Johnson will also lead a panel discussion on Sunday, April 22, from 3 to 3:45 p.m. entitled “BMI: The Indie Artist in TV and Film Soundtracks - what they want, what you can do” in room A. The panel will discuss the ins and outs of independent artists placing their music in film, TV and the mainstream media. Panelists include Jennifer O’Sullivan, Vice President, Creative, Cherry Lane Music; Ed Rossano, Vice President of Creative, Spirit Publishing; and Edel America recording artist Jo Davidson.
