Posted in News on November 18, 2003
The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), presenters of the 4th Annual CMT/CMT.com NSAI Song Contest, have issued a reminder for entries; all submissions must be postmarked by the Final Deadline of Saturday, November 29, 2003. Co-sponsored by BMI, the song contest provides the best avenue for emerging songwriters to open doors to industry contacts and have their song pitched to record labels and publishers. Last year's Grand Prize Winner, BMI affiliate Tracey Naples ("Love Me Til the Lonely's Gone"), has signed a label deal with DreamWorks Records.

This year's Grand Prize Winner will receive an invitation to perform on CMT's Most Wanted Live stage during Fan Fair, plus a trip to Nashville, guaranteed appointments with publishers and record labels, a mentoring session with an award-winning professional songwriter, an invitation to perform at the Bluebird Caf during NSAI's Tin Pan South, and an appearance on a WSM radio program. NSAI will produce a professional demo of the winning song and pitch it to publishers and A&R record label executives for one year. Five Finalists will also receive a professional demo and song pitching for a year.

Prizes will be awarded to a Grand Prize Winner, five Finalists, 10 Runners-Up and 40 Honorable Mentions. The Grand Prize Winner wins a Taylor Guitars model 214, an AKG C-3000B studio condenser microphone, a one-year supply of Elixir Strings, a one-year SongU.com tuition, and a Music City Pitch Kit nylon bag designed for songwriters. Five Finalists win a Big Baby Taylor Guitar, an AKG D 880 performance microphone, and a six-month SongU.com tuition. Both the Grand Prize Winner and Five Finalists also receive MasterWriter songwriter software, one-year SongRamp.com pro membership, free registration to NSAI Songwriter's Symposium or Song Camp 101 or 102, and a one-year NSAI membership. The contest is open to all genres of music and all songs entered receive a judging report. Songs will be judged based on lyrics, melody and composition by music industry executives, professional songwriters, and NSAI board members.
