When we find that BMI royalty checks have gone uncashed for an extended period of time, a member may be sent a letter in an attempt to have the checks reissued.
If you received a letter regarding uncashed checks, please complete the information at the bottom of the letter and return by one of the following methods:

Due to the volume of letters, we are unable to confirm receipt. If you have not received a payment in 4-6 weeks, please contact your local Creative office.
I have direct deposit, how did this happen?
A check(s) was issued prior to your direct deposit that our records show has not been cashed.
Will my check(s) be reissued via my direct deposit?
Yes, if that is the current method of payment at the time the reissue is processed.
What year was the check issued? What quarters does it represent?
A letter will be mailed with your reissued payment listing the distribution quarter(s) the amount represents. The corresponding royalty statement(s) can then be viewed through your BMI Online Services account.
How many checks are uncashed?
An asterisk (*) after the amount indicates multiple checks. A letter will be mailed with your reissued payment listing the distribution quarter(s) the amount represents. The corresponding royalty statement(s) can then be viewed through your BMI Online Services account.
The letter is addressed to my deceased relative; what do I need to do?
Go to our Estates page and complete the Estate Questionnaire listed under More Information. Please attach a copy of your letter with the other requested documents and send to the address provided on the questionnaire.
What if the letter is not returned by the deadline?
The indicated funds will be escheated to the State Treasurer’s Office per the laws of your state. To claim escheated money, go to http://www.unclaimed.org. This website has links to all Unclaimed Property offices in the United States and easy-to-follow instructions. Affiliates with international addresses should check with the state of New York and the state of Delaware.
