Broadcast Music, Inc. affiliates make up six of the top ten most popular recording artists in the world, according to the 2013 International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI’s) Top 10 Global Recording Artists chart. The international recorded music trade group assembled the list by researching album sales across formats (digital, CD and vinyl), singles sales, on-demand streams and music videos. When all was said and done, pop sensations One Direction (PRS/BMI) were declared number one.

BMI heavyweights also snagged the second, sixth, seventh, eighth and tenth spot on the list. In order, the honorees are: veteran rapper Eminem, recently crowned “Global Icon” at the MTV European Awards; Billboard’s 2013 Woman of the Year P!nk; multiple 2014 GRAMMY Award winners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; 2014 Best Urban Contemporary Album GRAMMY winner and multiple chart-topper Rihanna; and winners of this year’s GRAMMY award for Best New Album, among other trophies, French dance heroes Daft Punk.

Congratulations to all!
