Celebrating the Songs of Strong: Nashville
BMI, along with the Nashville Blues Society, are presenting a very special evening at BB Kings Blues Club in Nashville, celebrating the music of Motown legend and longtime BMI songwriter Barrett Strong, who wrote R&B classics “Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone, “I Wish it Would Rain,” “Ball of Confusion,” “Just My Imagination,” and many more. Doors open at 6:00 PM; show starts at 7:00 PM.
Barrett Strong will tell the stories behind the songs and give us a peek inside his life as a Motown songwriter. The evening will feature a variety of artists performing his works, including Sarah Buxton, John Ford Coley, James “Nick” Nixon, Eliza Neals, Chelson Strong, Jimmy Hall, Maria Blues, Mike Farris, the McCrary Sisters and Markey.
Tickets on sale now at barrettstrong.eventbrite.com. All proceeds will go towards his medical bills and living expenses.
