Harsh Reality

January 17th…I was drinking Airborne out of a thermo mug in the car on the way to LAX when I found myself stupidly stuck in gridlock on the infamous 405.  I don’t know what brain glitch inspired me to take that onramp…but there I was…couldn’t move and couldn’t get off the freeway.  We eventually escaped and scrambled through side streets to the airport.  The Delta terminal was comically littered with haphazardly parked black vehicles that had all raced to the finish line…town cars, limos, SUV’s, Jaguars…all spewing out frustrated late arriving festival goers.

The bag check lines were impossible.  I blew my flight…as did Jason Ritter (starring in The Good Dick at Sundance) who ended up next to me in the “help me” line.  Every flight was sold out…so I opted to stay Zen…and try going standby.  I knew at least my suitcase would arrive in Utah. I made it onto the next flight, squished in the center seat in row 33 but grateful.  Met up with BMI’s Linda Livingston in Salt Lake City and drove straight to festival headquarters in Park City.
