In Park City
We managed to make it to the opening night premiere of “In Bruges” which I was eager to see because it takes place in Bruges….which is a city in Belgium….quite close to Ghent where they hold the Flanders Film Festival and the World Soundtrack Awards each year. The two cities are similar with Medieval architecture, canals, and tourists so it was very amusing to see a film that is in part about that experience…especially a dark comedy. It was also nice to see adorable Colin Farrell who stars in the film and was there. The evening was introduced by the brilliant Geoffrey Gilmore (Director of the festival) whose already croaking voice spoke volumes about how much talking he has to do just to get to opening night. In Bruges is an Irish co-production and the debut feature of director Martin McDonagh. Sundance Composer Lab advisor Carter Burwell did a great job on the score.
