Monday Monday

by Doreen Ringer Ross

Composer Ed Shearmur arrived today just in time for the premiere of his film “Dedication” which was directed by Justin Theroux (yes, the actor).  Ed’s flight was late and his luggage was lost…but he got into his seat at Eccles just in time. Linda and I were already there with his manager Bobby Urband, Peter Golub (director of the Sundance Music Program), and Tracy McKnight who music supervised the film.  Actually Tracy was the music supervisor on SIX films in the festival this year….Dedication, The Ten, Chapter 27, Smiley Face, Delirious, and one more…can’t remember the name. She is definitely the queen of the independent film world when it comes to music supervision.  Ed Shearmur worked in part with the band Deer Hoof to create a uniquely quirky original sounding score that perfectly captures the screwy yet lovable spirit of the characters in this film.

After the film we headed back over to The Turning Leaf Lounge to catch Julianna Ray and Christ Stills showcase there and get ready for BMI’s Caledonian Party later that night.  Thomas Golubic was our DJ and vibe is always just right when he is in the house.
