Grammy- and Emmy-winning BMI songwriter/composer Charlie Fox headlined the Society of Singers’ benefit dinner – “An Evening with Charlie Fox” – at Café Cordiale in Sherman Oaks on Monday, January 23. The Songwriter Hall of Fame member has written such songs as Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly,” Barry Manilow’s “Ready to Take a Chance Again” and Jim Croce’s “I Got a Name,” in addition to composing theme songs to the television shows Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Wonder Woman, Love Boat and many more. The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) presented a screening of Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on Thursday, January 5 at the Pacific Design Center’s Silver Screen Theatre. After the screening, the SCL hosted a Q&A session with BMI composer Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor, the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning team behind the film’s music.
