Nettwerk One Music/Revelry Music Group recently welcomed BMI songwriter Neil Mason to their songwriting family. Mason, drummer for the Cadillac Black, just finished tours with Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Only two months into the deal, Mason’s songs have been placed in CSI: Miami and The Vampire Diaries. Outlets including the LA Times and Hollywood Reporter are praising Searching for Sugar Man, the documentary that traces Detroit singer/songwriter Rodriguez’s incredible story. Rodriguez was a surprise performer at BMI’s 8th annual Snowball during Sundance 2012.

BMI, Sony Music and Jack Daniels presented “Noche Bohemia,” an intimate, invite-only event featuring a performance by Beatriz Luengo, January 25 in New York. Beatriz, a native of Madrid, Spain, performed acoustic interpretations of songs from her recent album Bela y Sus Moskitas Muertas. Pictured at the event are BMI’s Porfirio Piña and Luengo.

Bethany and Kurtis Parks, winners of the BMI Songwriter Award at the 2012 MidAtlantic Songwriter’s Contest, are flanked by Margot MacDonald,(right), BMI Washington DC Youth Ambassador; and BMI Senior Advisor Robbin Ahrold (left), who presented the award on behalf of BMI on January 15 in Vienna, Virginia. The Parks siblings were multiple award winners that night, winning honors for Best Folk/Acoustic Song (Gold Award), Best Rock/Alternative Song (Gold Award), and one of the evening’s top awards, Second Place Overall.

BMI and Nashville’s Mercy Lounge partnered to present the annual Jingle Ball, a holiday edition of their weekly 8 off 8th showcase series on Monday, December 5. With acts from Nashville, Los Angeles, and London, the night featured plenty of original music as well as new spins on some seasonal classics.
