BMI celebrated the hard-working team behind Jason Aldean’s No. 1 “Tattoos on this Town” at Nashville’s Bound’ry on February 7. Written by Wendell Mobley, Michael Dulaney, and Neil Thrasher, the tune is Aldean’s eighth trip to the top of the charts. Thrasher and Dulaney also penned Aldean’s “Fly Over States,” which is currently flying up the charts. Pictured are producer Michael Knox, Thrasher, Aldean, Mobley, Dulaney, and BMI’s Clay Bradley.

Jessi Colter picked up BMI Million-Air Awards celebrating the million-plus performances of three of her late husband Waylon Jennings’ songs: “Rainy Day Woman,” “Good-Hearted Woman” and “Good Ol’ Boys.” “Rainy Day Woman,” written by Jennings alone, has earned more than one million performances, while “Good-Hearted Woman,” which Jennings wrote with Willie Nelson, has received more than three million. The iconic theme song for the popular television show The Dukes of Hazzard, “Good Ol’ Boys” has garnered more than two million performances. An award-winning BMI singer/songwriter herself, Jessi Colter was one of the few women to help shape the outlaw movement. Pictured are BMI’s Clay Bradley, Colter and BMI’s David Preston.

Sixteen-year-old singer/songwriter Jessica Farren recently joined BMI’s songwriting family. Jessica, who was selected for the 2011 Grammy Camp in New York last year, is the daughter of Grammy-winning songwriter/publisher/producer Chris Farren. BMI presented three Million-Air Awards to hit songwriter Thom McHugh on February 3 in Nashville. “Holdin’ Heaven” – Tracy Byrd’s first No. 1 in 1993 – has earned more than 3 million performances; Kenny Chesney’s “Don’t Happen Twice” has accrued more than 2 million; and Trace Adkins’ “More” has received more than 1 million.
