Indie Spotlight: Tommy & The High Pilots

Posted in News on April 22, 2013

When his first band, Holden, broke up in 2007, Tommy Cantillon left New York and returned to his roots in Santa Barbara, ready for Act II. This time, he’d tap best friends Steve Libby (bass) and Matt Palermo (drums), and his brother, Michael Cantillon (guitar/keyboards) to complement his vocals. With influences like Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Peter Gabriel, Tommy & The High Pilots have steadily built a fan base via two DIY albums, an EP, and non-stop touring. Their newest effort, Only Human, out May 28 on Redbird Records, is an eclectic collaboration between the band and producers Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Train); Jason McEntire (Son Volt, Ha Ha Tonka) and Marc McClusky (Weezer, Ludo) that explores themes of perseverance, redemption and humanity. Watch the official lyric video for the title track “Only Human” here.
