Congressional Members Continue to Co-Sponsor Songwriter Equity Act
BMI affiliates around the country will be pleased that Congressman John Conyers (D-MI-13) (@repjohnconyers) has agreed to join with lead Democratic co-sponsor Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY-8) (@RepJeffries) and co-sponsor H.R. 1283, the Songwriter Equity Act of 2015. The bill, reintroduced in March of this year by Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA-9) (@RepDougCollins), continues to gain momentum on Capitol Hill and Mr. Conyers’ support is welcome news. Congressman Conyers is Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee and is also Dean of the House (the longest-serving current member), having represented Michigan’s 13th Congressional District for over five consecutive decades.
