On Tuesday, April 12, BMI’s Director of Film/TV Relations, Anne Cecere, along with BMI executives, Barbie Quinn, Krystina DeLuna and Cee Barrett, proudly supported several BMI composers who participated in a panel presented by the California Copyright Conference and the Society of Composers and Lyricists entitled “Breaking the Sound Barrier - Women in Film, TV and Live Production Music.” The lively discussion took a deep dive into the role of women composers in the world of entertainment, including a discussion of the opportunities and obstacles for a successful career with a highly distinguished group of composers. Panelists included Emmy and GRAMMY-nominated BMI composer and longtime SCL Board member Miriam Cutler, 10 time Emmy-nominated BMI composer Lolita Ritmanis, composer, lyricist and SCL Board member Adryan Russ, and BMI composer and pianist Starr Parodi. Jonathan David Neal, composer and Recording Secretary of the SCL, and Eric Palmquist, President, Recognition Songs and Past President of the CCC, moderated the panel.
