BMI Brings Nashville Songwriters to Maine to Benefit Charity
In June of 2013, Broadcast Music Inc., in partnership with the Maine Restaurant Association (MRA) and the Maine Innkeepers Association (MIA), presented the first annual Maine Songwriter Series to benefit the charity Share Our Strength (Maine), a nonprofit group dedicated to ending childhood hunger. The first concert featured BMI songwriters Dylan Altman and Jeff Cohen, who have written hit songs for Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, The Band Perry, Big & Rich and many others.
Commenting on the Songwriter Series, BMI’s Dan Spears, Vice President of Industry Relations, Licensing said, “BMI is proud to sponsor this event with the Maine Restaurant Association and the Maine Innkeepers Association as it truly showcases the power of the live performance. BMI encourages collaboration among songwriters and businesses to help support community spirit and to benefit positive causes like the Share Our Strength group. This will be a terrific concert series in the great state of Maine.”
Greg Dugal of the Maine Innkeepers Association added, “The Maine Innkeepers Association looks forward to working with BMI on the annual Maine Songwriters Series. It is critical to shed light on the very important role that songwriters play in the process of entertaining our guests and the general public.” Dugal continued, “We are very pleased that BMI has been gracious enough to include Maine in its programming and encourage everyone to come out and enjoy these fantastic entertainers.”
