BMI and SCL Honor Creative Arts Emmy Nominees at Pre-Award Reception

On Thursday, September 8, the Society of Composers & Lyricists celebrated its Creative Arts Emmy nominees at the Montage Beverly Hills, where BMI executives were on hand to honor our BMI nominated composers. This year, the BMI nominees included  Mac Quayle, who won Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Mr. Robot; Duncan Thum, who was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Chef’s Table; Sean P. Callery, who was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Minority Report and Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for Marvel’s Jessica Jones (which he won); Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome, who were nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “Frozen Lullaby Garfunkel & Oates: Trying to be Special;” Abel Korzeniowski, who was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Penny Dreadful; Chris Bacon, who was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for Bates Motel; Jeff Beal, who was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie, or a Special for Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise; James Newton Howard, also nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie, or a Special for All The Way; Danny Elfman, who was nominated and won for Outstanding Music Direction for Danny Elfman’s Music From The Films of Tim Burton (Live From Lincoln Center); Rickey Minor and Christian McBride, who were  nominated for Outstanding Music Direction for Smithsonian Salutes Ray Charles: In Performance At The White House; Rachel Bloom, who received two nominations (Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics) for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; Jim Beanz, who received a nod for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “Good People” from Empire; Alan Menken, who was nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “A New Season” from Galavant and Tom Tykwer (GEMA/BMI) who was honored with a nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for Sense8.
